Ooh, ahh.. this is my new journal! I know it doesn’t look much different than my other one (I made it that way), but I can do anything I please with this one for free. Soon I’ll have pictures and other fun stuff on here. So until then, here’s a much needed new entry. (:
mood : happy
music : The Hippos - Wasting My Life
So I’m officially out of that crappy funk I was in. In fact I’m actually quite happy lately - I haven’t been able to say “I had a good week” in a while, but I did. (:
Do you want to hear about my week? Of course you do. =D On Wednesday night I went to see Reel Big Fish at the 9:30 Club with Katie, Steve, and Joe. The show opened up with The Kicks - they were pretty rockin’! The Starting Line played second, and they were pretty good too.. Rob introduced me to their music a while ago so I knew a lot of the songs. I like the song “Best of Me” a whole lot, but sometimes their songs are a bit too Blink 182ish for me. Finally Reel Big Fish played! They were great, although very very drunk! haha.. the lead singer Aaron was piss drunk. At one point he was playing a solo while laying on his back on the ground.. eventually he was like.. “I can’t play anymore.” And made Scott (the main backup/trumpet dude) play. That guy is amazing.. he sings ridiculously high, plays a trumpet thing, guitar, and got on the drums when their drummer got up to pee. haha.. all in all it was a really funny show. They played Beer (my favorite song) twice.. the first time they didn’t even get through it. I think Aaron had passed out on the ground about then. (: I got myself a badass poster for my wall, and a new pin for my collection. Yay!
Friday night KG played two shows. The first one was a b-day party for this dude who turned 16. That was pretty fun, except it was cold becuase we played outside. We got mad cake out of it, and had a good time. Later that night we played at Hal Daddy’s with Stupid Hero. That was fun too, I think the people there (aka Stupid Hero’s crowd) dug our music. Saturday night we played a show at the Catonsville YMCA. Nobody came to see us except my parents, Brian’s parents, and the guys from Velvet, but it’s all good. So although there weren’t too many people there, they all stood up for us and seemed pretty into the music. The band after us, Jandry, was pretty cool too.. They played Weezer covers which makes them automatically cool. haha.. We had a big crazy sing along to their cover of “Undone.” It was hilarious.. our whole band went up and sang with them. It was special. =D Afterwards we went to dinner with the guys from Velvet at Katie’s restaurant, The Blue Moon, in Fells Point. The guys from Velvet rule - they’re the funniest people I’ve ever met.. especially Joe B and Drew. It hurts to be around them because I laugh so much. Good times. (:
Sunday night me and Steve went to the Ottobar to see Midtown. That was lots of fun! I ran into my friend from elementary school/dance dynamics Kristen, and her friend Kristy. I’ve been running into them everywhere lately.. she seems to be at all the local shows I’m at. She’s a cool gal. Rob, Brian, and Luke from Stupid Hero were all there too so it was fun hanging out with all of them. There were a few random girls that were apparently at our North Glen Hall Show that were all like “We know you! We were at that show! You guys are good!” haha.. me and Steve felt all popular. =D The bands that played were all pretty good.. I missed most of the first band.. The Reunion Show was pretty cool.. they have a moog! Yay moog rock! I didn’t really like the band Recover who played 3rd.. they were a little too screamy for me. However, their guitarist looks like Jack Black. =D Midtown was rockin’, it was cool seeing them. Dylan got me into them a while ago… I don’t know any songs except the ones off of Save the World Lose the Girl, so I didn’t get to sing along the whole time.. but I had my moments. They played my fav song “No Place Feels Like Home” so that made me happy. (:
What with all of this stuff going on I wasn’t able to go home this weekend. Woo hoo, my first time not going home at all! So Sunday night me and my friend Chris from down the hall had a laundry party. It was fun! You should be proud of me - I didn’t go home, AND I did my laundry without messing anything up! These are huge accomplishments for my pathetic self. (:
So overall I had a pretty kickass weekend. It’s so much fun playing and going to all these shows. This week is looking pretty rad too… Two of my classes were cancelled this week, so that’s a big plus. Saturday I’m going to see The Anniversary at the Ottobar with the KG crew. Yay! (:
