girl you know it’s… girl you know it’s…
Something that has been really irking me lately is the fact that nobody seems to perform live these days. I was watching the Thanksgiving Day parade on TV in horror as everybody from pop stars to opera singers lip sung to a recording. 80% of them weren’t even trying to look like they were singing for real, but I don’t blame them. I don’t think I could pretend and just be okay with it, especially if I was an opera singer. How humiliating. I understand that for a big event like that it’s just easier.. but geeze. I’d honestly rather hear them suck than hear some sugar coated recording. Maybe then we’d have less of these no talent, pop-star-in-a-box singers who sound great thanks to studio magic.
Then there’s people like Ashlee Simpson who act like they don’t lip sync even though everybody knows they do… if you’re going to do it, regardless of whether its for “health reasons” or not, at least admit it. And especially don’t blame it on your band!
Wyatt has recently gotten me into the amazing vocals of the Beach Boys. If you wanna see how it’s done listen to any one of their albums - they record all the vocals live at the same time, and then double them! Go see Brian Wilson live with his band and you’ll get the exact same perfection.
