coming up for air

Do you ever feel like you’re drowning when your schedule gets overwhelmingly hectic? That’s how I feel every day this semester. When I look at my planner my stomach does backflips and my breath gets short. I can only hope it gets easier.

one more year…

Once again the starting of school has whipped my life into a whirlwind of busyness. Along with two boring music edu classes, I get the chance to visit area schools and shadow music teachers almost every Wednesday and Friday all day. It’s fun (except for the getting up super early if the school is far) and has reinforced the decision that I really do want to be a music teacher. I always said I would want to teach either elementary or high school, but never middle because the kids are going through too much of a crazy time. However, after sitting in on the classes, I fell in love with middle school and think that’s where I would do best.

I’m also taking an astronomy lecture/lab (which is pretty mind blowing), an English class that discusses myths, idealogy, and democracy (which is more interesting than it sounds, but the reading is tough), and orchestra. I have double bass lessons once a week and my senior recital is this semester. I’m practicing dilligently to prepare because I’m really nervous, but my hands are paying for it in blisters. The rest of my time is spent doing homework, practicing with the band twice a week and playing shows. When the stars align, I get a chance to relax and/or hang out with friends.

This is my last full semester of classes - I will be student teaching in the spring!
