student teaching: week 5

Things have been going a lot better since my last post.  I had that same string class today and it was like night and day how well they did.  Two of them didn’t want to stop playing when the lesson was over!  I’ve been teaching a lot now, especially since my mentor teacher left early on Wednesday and will be out Monday.  I’m really getting to put those classroom management skills into use and getting better at keeping them in line.

We’ve been playing a lot of shows this month and it’s exhausting on top of the student teaching, but all the weekday shows have been worth it so far.  I’m excited about this summer when we don’t have to cram all of our tours in three months.  Hopefully we can jump on some good ones - we’ve had to turn them down in the past due to my school schedule.  Since I’m graduating we can spread them out and I can actually have some time to work and play (outisde of the band)!    I’m looking forward to start teaching privately again, so if you’re reading this spread the word!  I specialize in double bass, electric bass, and flute.
