FreeRice
After reading a friend’s blog entry that mentioned FreeRice I checked it out and now play almost every day. In a nutshell it’s a vocabulary matching game and for every word you get correct, 20 grains of rice are donated to feed the hungry. Play, learn, and help people in need… everybody wins!
It came at a good time because I’m starting to study for the GRE and I’ve read that expanding your vocabulary is a big part of increasing your score on the test. My test prep book gave me a huge list of words that I made flashcards for but it’s not as fun as FreeRice. However, to entertain myself and remember the flashcard words better, I wrote a sentence for each in the context of Harry Potter. As if studying vocabulary wasn’t nerdy enough. (;
The Inquisitorial Squad was a lame attempt to stymie any misconduct while Umbridge was in charge.
