winter knitting highlights

I haven’t posted a lot of knitting projects lately because I’ve been wrapped up in using Ravelry, which is like Myspace but way cooler (nerdier) because it’s for knitters. It’s fantastic because I can organize all my past/current projects with details and pictures, plus search for new ideas and patterns. Sadly there isn’t a public link to user profiles yet so I can’t share all of my lovelies with you. That being said here are some highlights of my recent projects:

This iPod Nano sock I made for Amy has the coolest button ever! It’s so awesome and slightly creepy. I found it in a random bag of buttons that I got from the thrift store years ago.
Here’s a super cute felted bag I made as a Christmas present for my Aunt.

Nick’s awesome lightbulb hat!
And a gorgeous hat, gloves, and scarf set I made for a lady at work!

felted handbag

I recently finished this bag and sewed a button on last night. It’s the same pattern as I used for my first felted purse but I used a pretty blue variegated yarn this time.

skull tote

I made this super cute bag twice so far for ladies at my work using the pattern from hello yarn. I know one of them is going to use it as a diaper bag… much more rock and roll than your typical baby stuff! I switched to Patons classic wool the second time around and it’s a lot cheaper than specialty store wool but still works great!

cherry blossom bag

I made this bag as a special request from Olivia and it’s my favorite project that I’ve done so far. It’s the first time I ever attempted any sort of embroidery and although it was difficult, I’m really happy with the results. The bag pattern is Sophie by Julie Anderson and I “free handed” the embroidery using my own sketch created from several cherry blossoms photos as a reference.

mom’s purse

I made a purse like this a while back and my mom requested one. I gave it to her for Christmas last year but am finally putting it up. Karmella is showing is off for me!

Purse

Orange Purse

I made this purse a while ago and finally got it all lined and everything. I didn’t use a pattern, but I based it roughly off the shape of the green and white felted purse I made before. I found some nice dark red denim to line it with. My mom likes it a lot and wants one for Christmas so if I don’t sell it I’ll give this one to her.

first felted purse

IMG_0897.jpg

I’m so excited about this purse! It’s my first felted purse ever and it turned out fantastic. I really love the button - I got it from this killer pack of vintage looking buttons from Michael’s for only 4 bucks. I used Lopi by Reynolds Yarns and the pattern is “Pink Lady” from Designs by Shelley.

green & blue purse

I’m excited with how this purse turned out. It has a cute little wrap around tie to fasten it closed rather than a loop. The only problem with it is when finishing it I used an overcast stitch to sew the two panels together, causing it to bunch in certain places (you can really tell on the left side). I know better now to just do a basic stich close to the edge, but it still looks fine.

Yarn: Manos del Uruguay
Status: Sold
